Correct Don, as long as you are careful it will be OK, before reassembly give a slight tug on the shaft, or you can take the cone off and be double sure the key does not fall off, and observe all torque on the oil pump bolts. WebApr 20, 2013 · It is critical that the oil pump, once torqued down to specks that it has no binding. If there is it will shear at 1 out of the 3 1/4 wood drift keys. To check for binding the cam and pinion gears must be out. Then rotate with finger several revolution for binding. I usually rotate it both directions. If you are lucky it will have adj. push rods. Then ran it up over the rear fender, let it hang down about 3 inches in the back of the Fender to Vent the Oil to the Rear of the Bike. That's to Keep that Oil off my rear wheel. You might want to change that oil.
